Whilst it is possible to book us for a single pest treatment, we treat cockroaches, ants, spiders and silverfish all in the one visit which is our best value treatment.  We treat the outside perimeter of the house and do a thorough inspection of the inside to decide the best way to keep pests out of your house. Our pest managers will discuss every move with you on site and keep you informed of every product and technique we use in your house. We warrant all our work to give you the peace of mind to have a pest free house.

Ants

Ants are a nuisance pest that get into everything. There are lots of different species of ants, however the ones in your house will be most likely one or all of the 4 main species common here in Townsville. These are black house ant, pharaoh ant, coastal brown ant or ghost ant. The ghost ant is one of the few ant species that can internally harbour anywhere in a dwelling. All these common species are sensitive to repellents so whilst surface sprays will kill the ones you spray; the rest will just move to another location in your house. With this in mind, we use non repellent products in spray and gel forms to rid your house of the annoying ants for good, (or at least up to 12 months).

Cockroaches

There are two common types of cockroaches found in houses across north Queensland. Large and small, the larger American or Australian cockroaches are only in your house for a short term, coming in to forage for food and lay eggs. These cockroaches carry all sorts of germs for their time wandering the sewers and drains surrounding your house. The smaller  germans or brown banded cockroaches are the internal harbouring type, whilst they don’t tend to carry the diseases of their larger cousins, they explode in numbers very quickly once established. Females can lay up to six eggs a day and begin reproducing at just 18 days old. These males definitely require repellent products carefully targeted at their harbourage.

Spiders

From Daddy long legs to funnel web spiders, spiders are among the top three insects people fear most. Other than being messy, most spiders are relatively harmless either being non venomous or if they do bite its only a small sting. For the few that are dangerous, keeping your house free of them is why you want a good pest control company that can firstly identify the different species of spider and second understand the right treatment methods to keep your house spider free.

Silverfish

A small nocturnal insect known for chomping its way through prized possessions such as wedding dresses and birth certificates. They are a primitive species that can reproduce very fast if left unchecked, laying up to 60 eggs every week. By understanding their life cycle and living arrangements we can be very targeted in our treatment to eradicate them from your home.

Rodents

There are two types of nuisance rodent in North Queensland, the roof rat and the Norway rat. As the name suggests the roof rat is a good climber and loves to hang out in the roof, chewing their way through wiring, plumbing and just about anything it can find. Norway rats on the other hand are not very good climbers and prefer to dig tunnels around sub floors and sheds, gnawing their way into food storage containers and any thing else that they think looks chewable. All rat species have continuously growing canine teeth which if left unchecked will kill the rat, this is why they chew. When we are called upon to treat an infestation we attend up to five visits continually filling up our bait boxes. The product we use is the lowest secondary kill on the market, while all care is taken it does have an antidote available in case of accidental consumption by pets.

Ticks

Most North Queensland ticks are not only annoying for you and your pets, they also carry disease. Ticks are opportunistic predators that lay dormant in the soil for up to 12 months until vibration on the ground awakes them and they can go to work. Ticks can also climb, they wait up to a meter off the ground, attached to a plant, fence or  the house, as an animal or person brushes past they climb on. Ticks like fleas normally require two treatments to fully eradicate the infestation.

Fleas

The flea you are most likely to encounter in North Queensland is the cat flea, it is the only species of flea that can  live on animals that consume meat. They require the protein in the blood to survive and reproduce. So in the case of a flea infestation, it pays to be a vegan. In a typical infestation, the fleas biting you and your animals only account for around 15 percent of the total population. The rest is made up of 50 percent eggs and 35 percent larvae, this is why we recommend two treatments because unfortunately there are no chemicals on the market that will penetrate to kill the eggs.

Wasps

Although there are many, many species  of wasp in our area, the two people are most commonly concerned with, are the mud wasp and the paper wasp. Whilst the mud wasp can technically sting a human, the occurrence is highly unlikely given their non aggressive nature, and the stinger is so small on a mud wasp it is unlikely a heathy adult would even feel it. The paper wasp on the other hand is aggressive and their sting is painful. They, unlike their loner cousins (mud wasps), tend to hang out in large numbers and as nests get bigger, they can number in the thousands.

Mosquitos

Most people are aware of the diseases like Dengue and Zika that mosquitoes can potentially carry however other than covering up with repellents or burning coils, most people aren’t aware that a qualified pest manager has the tools and expertise to rid their yard and house of them. Using a large motorised mister, we can reduce our pyrethroid based products down to five microns and blow it up into trees and under eves and all the places where mosquitoes like to live and breed.

Bedbugs

Bed bugs are a little parasite that are easily transferred on people and clothing. They usually attach to the host via hotel and hostel beds that have been infested by some one else. Newly hatched bed bugs are small enough to pass through the thread hole in a mattress and can easily move from the bed to a suitcase and back on to a bed at home. There are lots of rules and regulations for the treatment of bed bugs and very specific products that are allowed to be applied to bedding, so getting in touch with your local pest professional is the most effective way to eliminate an infestation.
